Services We Offer

The growth of the Internet provides exciting new ways for organisations to offer new services and communicate with users and clients. But in an area characterised by hype and jargon, it is hard to work out what these new opportunities actually mean for you, or even how to start thinking about them.

Backroad Connections can help you in various ways, depending on the nature of your proposed developments and the stage you are at in planning.

Consultancy

If you are beginning to explore the potential of online technologies, some initial discussion can assist you to understand the range of options available and explore the ways you might use these in your organisation. This could range from a few hours brainstorming to several days work, perhaps involving a workshop with key staff to identify opportunities, strategic directions and key target groups.

Ad-hoc advice

If you have a range of activities and projects on which you may need occasional advice and help, you can sign an agreement with Backroad Connections for on-call advice. This would typically involve a set hourly rate and a maximum number of hours. Once this arrangement is in place you can call on us as required. Examples of tasks might include commenting on a project proposals you have written (or received) and reviewing and commenting on tender submissions as technical support to a Selection Panel.

Consultation, analysis and planning

Once you have made a commitment to a project or feasibility study Backroad Connections can assist you to structure more formal development processes. Examples might include:

Consultation with key stakeholders about they sorts of services they would like you to offer online.
Environmental scanning: what are other organisations in your area doing? what can be learnt from organisations in different industries?
Reviewing your existing business processes and seeing how they might be adapted or changed to suit online delivery.
Developing and documenting a detailed project proposal for internal sign-off or external funding.

Project Management

We can assist with initiating and managing project implementation in various ways:

Writing of specification and tender documentation.
Identification of suitable organisations to tender or quote for components of your project.
Assistance with tender / quotation evaluation.
Total project management.

Our experience is that for long term viability it is desirable that staff within your organisation are actively involved in the development of online systems. For this reason we prefer to work with your organisation to transfer skills and experience and involve you in developing the expertise you will need to ensure the ongoing success of your project. However we recognise that sometimes there are imperatives to get a project up and running. If necessary we can provide a complete project management service, while still playing a developmental role in your organisation.
